Section 6 Datacamp
Datacamp.com is an excellent resource, with lots of great courses geared to students interested in learning about R.
6.1 Official Blurb from DataCamp
This class is supported by DataCamp, the most intuitive learning platform for data science. Learn R, Python and SQL the way you learn best through a combination of short expert videos and hands-on-the-keyboard exercises. Take over 100+ courses by expert instructors on topics such as importing data, data visualization or machine learning and learn faster through immediate and personalised feedback on every exercise.
6.2 Using Datacamp is recommended, but not required
We have created a DataCamp for the Classroom course group, which provides you with free access to all of their courses throughout the length of 431, and which you’ll be invited to join while you’re registered for 431 (and its follow-up, 432.)
- You should receive an email about this near the beginning of the term, once you are officially enrolled and the class has begun.
- Please feel strongly encouraged to join us and take advantage of the service, but the use of Datacamp is not mandatory.
- Even before you get that email, you can take the (free) R for the Intimidated course, which is very nice, especially if you’re feeling a bit intimidated.
6.3 Datacamp Courses We Recommend
Remember that you can start with the (free) R for the Intimidated course, if it seems useful to you, at any time.
Once you have enrolled in our Datacamp Class, you’ll have access to a wider array of their courses, including the following, all of which we recommend highly.
- Introduction to the Tidyverse by David Robinson
- Data Manipulation in R with dplyr by Garrett Grolemund
- Data Visualization with ggplot2 by Rick Scavetta
- Introduction to Data by Mine Cetinkaya-Rundel
- Exploratory Data Analysis by Andrew Bray
- Exploratory Data Analysis in R: A Case Study by David Robinson
- Correlation and Regression by Ben Baumer
- Reporting with R Markdown by Garrett Grolemund
